Materials The robust skeleton of the ship is precision-cut from premium plywood. The deep hull is meticulously built by placing individual hardwood planks one by one over the frame, then beautifully finished with premium teak wood and treated with specialized dark historical waxes to replicate 15th-century oak aging. Detailed fittings include solid brass deck cannons, a zinc anchor, and custom fine wooden blocks. The pristine sails and complex rigging network are crafted from cotton and nylon, then finished with premium beeswax for maximum durability.

Maritime History

Built in Cantabria and originally nicknamed La Gallega, the Santa María was chartered in 1492 as the flagship for Christopher Columbus's historic transatlantic expedition. Alongside the smaller caravels Niña and Pinta, this robust merchant carrack successfully crossed the unknown Atlantic Ocean, leading to the European discovery of the New World. Though famously shipwrecked off the coast of Haiti on Christmas Day 1492, her legacy remains immortalized as one of the most famous and influential vessels to ever sail.
