Choosing your ship model in Mauritius
Since 1990, the Bobato workshop has handcrafted wooden ship models in Mauritius: historic vessels, tall ships, yachts and traditional fishing boats. Here is what you need to know to choose yours.

Size, scale and display space
The scale sets the ratio between the model and the real ship, so the final length also depends on the size of the original vessel. Measure the space you have in mind (shelf, desk, display cabinet or lobby), leaving room around the rigging. Each version's length is shown on its product page.
Craftsmanship and materials
Our models are built from raw timber and plans, then planked, rigged and finished by hand. We make our own brass and zinc fittings (cannons, anchors, deadeyes) in our workshop.

Catalogue models can be ordered directly. For a vessel that is not listed (a family sailing boat, a yacht, a specific historic ship), we build custom ship models from your plans or photos.
