Maritime History

Launched in 1779, L'Hermione was a fast Concorde-class frigate of the French Royal Navy, armed with 26 heavy 12-pounder guns. She gained eternal historic glory in 1780 by carrying General Lafayette to America to support George Washington during the American Revolutionary War. A symbol of international friendship and freedom, her legacy lives on today through a magnificent, full-scale sailing replica built in Rochefort, France.
